Computing

The site of Portus is huge and has a very complex history. The only way to deal with the large amount of archaeological information generated during the fieldwork is through using the latest techniques in archaeological computing. Much of the computing work underpins the processing of data from the various surveys undertaken at the site, and in bringing together data from many different sources to make the site easier to understand. The computer generated images and models that develop from this work are presented in a separate section, while one aspect from the latest fieldwork seasons is highlighted here - the Archaeological Recording Kit (ARK).
