PTM of Head
Interactive image of the head excavated in the 2009 Portus season, using the Hewlett Packard Labs Polynomial Texture Mapping technique. (Click and move the mouse over the image to modify the light position).
The PTM was captured by Hembo Pagi (ACRG) using a robotic PTM rig developed by the Archaeological Computing Research Group and the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The electronics and software to drive the rig and subsequent image processing was developed by members of the Intelligence, Agents, Multimedia Group at the University of Southampton, and in particular Kirk Martinez. The rig was engineered by Eric Webb. Capture of data was via a Nikon D300 using our own software and Camera Control Pro 2.
The applet is based on an applet available at http://materialobjects.com/ptm/. The additional programing was carried out by David Potts (ACRG).
