Warehouses

As a first stage in the use of CGI under the aegis if the AHRC Portus Project we constructed a series of models of one particular building - the so-called Severan Magazzini. These models allowed us to experiment with alternative modes of representing Roman architecture, and to extrapolate from the surviving, partially reconstructed remains. This warehouse complex, if indeed it was a warehouse, was the final building on the northern side of the inner canal prior to entrance to the Trajanic Basin. In addition to conventional computer graphics techniques have also begun to explore how the building could be used to control the flow of goods.
